Jennifer Acree currently leads a unique capacity building initiative in Flint, Michigan, the BEST Project. As the Project Director, Jennifer manages all aspects of programming including professional development, assessment, technical assistance and capacity building grantmaking activities. In the last two years, BEST has expanded services to organizations across lifecycle stages and mission areas including small, start-up organizations. Governance and leadership are a part of every capacity building activity and intervention.
Jennifer graduated with a Master’s in Social Work degree from the University of Michigan where she focused on nonprofit management and organizational development. During her graduate studies, she worked at the NEW Center in Ann Arbor, Michigan, a management support organization. She received a bachelor’s degree from Syracuse University in international relations. She subsequently worked in College Relations and Admissions at Syracuse University prior to completing her graduate studies.
Jennifer is a member of Grantmakers for Effective Organizations (GEO), BoardSource, the Michigan Nonprofit Association and the Alliance for Nonprofit Management. She currently serves as the Chair of the McAdams Book Award Committee, a program of the Alliance for Nonprofit Management recognizing an exceptional new nonprofit management book each year. Jennifer is also on the GEO membership committee and the Steering Committee for the Genesee County Community Collaborative.
